CIF Activities

CIF actively coordinates a diverse spectrum of activities throughout the academic calendar, fostering a vibrant Muslim community and enhancing the overall student experience.

Bellow you will find few exampels of the activities held by CIF over the previous years

AGM (Annual General Meeting)

The Annual General meeting (AGM) is a yearly gathering of all CIF members and guests at the beginning of each year. The meeting is to decide the new board which will provide its service to CIF and the Muslim community of Chalmers. Board members are voted in by the CIF members for each position. The election is usually combined by lectures on Islam, Introduction of CIF and dinner or Fika for the visitors.

Quran Halaqa

In 2023, CIF initiated a significant program by introducing weekly Quran Halaqa sessions in the prayer room. The purpose of the Halaqa is to practice and enhance our Tajweed skills, continually improving our Quranic readings. This endeavor is inspired by the example set by the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, who emphasized the importance of learning and teaching the Qur’an:

“خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ اْلقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ”

Khairukum man Ta’allamal Qura’na Wa A’llamahu.” (Bukhari)

“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

Our Quran Halaqa convenes on a weekly basis in the prayer room at Chalmers Johanneberg, with dedicated days for both males and females. If you’re interested in participating in our Quran Halaqa sessions, please click here for males and here for females.

Meet And Greet

We kick off the year with a delightful gathering – Meet and Greet, or simply, Fika with CIF. Traditionally taking place in late August, this event spans two days, with one hosted at Campus Lindholmen and the other at Johanneberg. The primary goal of this kick-start activity is to welcome new students, acquaint individuals who may not have heard about CIF, and address any queries you might have regarding CIF. Join us for a casual and informative session, where we not only introduce you to the essence of CIF but also indulge in some enjoyable Fika together.

Welcome Event

Lunch lectures are planned once or twice in a year regarding topics of Islam and Muslims. The lectures are either mostly PHD students in Chalmers. The lectures are planned spontaneously with no fix timings and venues. CIF will inform everyone when a lunch lecture is planned. Look forward to our website and Facebook page for our lunch lectures.

Iftar Dinner

Fasting in Ramadan can be a lonely experience for students living alone and for this reason CIF arranges Iftar dinners during Ramadan. There could be up to two Iftar dinners during the month and is arranged for up to 100-120 people. Everyone, Muslims or non-Muslims are invited for the dinner.

Taraweeh Prayer

Throughout the month of Ramadan, we typically organize Tarawih prayers in the prayer room. This initiative is especially beneficial for students who study late on campus or reside nearby and wish to partake in the Tarawih prayers in Jama’a.
